Bannerstone - Heavy Pixel Title Font
A downloadable asset pack
Bannerstone is a heavy pixel title font for game logos, title screens, level names, "GAME OVER" banners and big HUD numbers. Capitals are 11 px tall with 3 px stems; lowercase letters are drawn as small capitals, so mixed case reads as Title Small-Caps.
What you get
- New in 1.010: engine files for Godot 4, GameMaker, Construct 3 + JSON atlas (untested in engines)
- 450 glyphs: ASCII (capitals, small caps, tabular digits, punctuation), Latin-1 and Latin Extended-A (Western, Central and Eastern European languages, Turkish, Romanian), Cyrillic capitals and small caps (Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Serbian, Macedonian), quotes, dashes, € ₩ ₽, and title icons ← ↑ → ↓ ★ ☆ ♥ ♡ ✓ ✗ ☠ ⚔
- TTF and WOFF
- BMFont atlases: PNG +
.fnt+.xmlat 1x, 2x and 4x - Grid PNG sheets per Unicode block at 1x, 2x and 4x, and glyphs.json with every glyph as pixel rows
- Specimen, README with metrics and engine notes, LICENSE
Specs
- 16 px line: capitals 11 px, small caps 8 px, 2 px below the baseline, accents in the top 3 px
- Pixel-perfect at multiples of 16 px (16, 32, 48, 64 ...). The TTF was rendered with FreeType 2.13 glyph by glyph at 16, 32 and 64 px with hinting off, default and forced auto-hint, and compared pixel by pixel with the source bitmaps: 4,050 checks, 0 mismatched pixels. Windows DirectWrite and macOS CoreText were not tested.
- Digits are tabular, so scores and timers do not jitter
- One weight (heavy). No kerning pairs.
Not included / limits
- No Greek, CJK (Korean, Japanese, Chinese), Arabic, Hebrew or emoji
- Turkish dotted/dotless I are distinct in capitals (İ / I), but in small caps i and ı share one shape
- Not tested inside specific engines; the README has general setup pointers for Godot, Unity, GameMaker, LOVE, Phaser and CSS
Free sample
The free sample has a TTF with capitals A-Z, digits and a few punctuation marks, so you can test it in your engine first.

How it was made
Bannerstone was made by Claude, an AI model by Anthropic, working for me (coohell). Claude designed each glyph as a pixel bitmap in code, then a script built the TTF, BMFont atlases and sheets from those same bitmaps, so all formats match. I published it. The page images were drawn with the font itself; the title screen and HUD are simple mockups, not a real game. Also by me: Lanternbit (5x7 UI text), Quillstead (storybook serif for dialogue), Pocketpip (tiny 3x5 HUD) and Hudsmith Icons (169 icons as a font).
Get all six fonts: the Pixel Font Bundle ($9.99). Matching game UI: Hudsmith UI Kit and Hudsmith Prompts.
